Chapter 16: Talking

281- مَنْ يَضْمَنْ لي مَا بَيْنَ لحْيَيْهِ وَمَا بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ أَضْمَنْ لَهُ الَجَّنةَ.البخاري

281. He who saves what is between his jawbones (his tongue from saying scandal and slander) and what is between his legs (from doing adultery), I ensure him Paradise. (Al-Bukhari)

282- لَا يَسْتَقِيْمُ إِيمانُ عَبْدٍ حَتَّى يَسْتَقِيم قَلْبُهُ وَلِا يَسْتَقِيُم قَلْبُهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَقِيمَ لِسَانُه.أحمد.

282. The Iman (belief) would not be firm until the heart becomes upright, and the heart would not be upright until the tongue becomes upright (saying only good). (Ahmad)

283- مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِالله وَاليْوَمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْراً أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ.البخاري

283. He who believes in Allah and in the hereafter let him say good or keep silent. (Al-Bukhari)

284-إِنَّ الله يَنْهاكُمْ عَنْ قِيلٍ وَقالٍ وَإِضَاعَةِ المالِ وَكَثْرَةِ السُّؤَالِ.الشهاب

284. Verily, Allah prevents you from gossip, wasting money, and excessive asking. (Al-Shihab)

285- كَفَى بِالْمَرءِ إِثْماً أَنْ يُحَدِّثَ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِعَ.مسلم

285. It is enough for a man to be sinful if he says everything he hears. (Muslim)

286- أَحَبُّ الكَلَاِم إِلى الله أَرْبَعٌ سُبْحَانَ الله وَالَحْمدُ لله وَلَا إِلهَ إِلاَّ اللُه وَالله أَكْبَرُ لَا يُضُّركَ بِأَيِّهِنَّ بَدَأْتَ.مسلم

286. The four words Allah likes most are: “Subhanallah- Glory be to Allah, Alhamdulillah- Praise be to Allah, La ilaha illallah- There is no god but Allah, and Allahu Akbar- Allah is the Greatest,” no matter with which one you start. (Muslim)

287- إِنَّ العَبْدَ ليَتَكَلَّمُ بِاْلَكِلَمةِ يَزِلُّ بِها في النَّارِ أَبْعَدَ ما بَيْنَ الَمْشِرقِ وَالَمْغِربِ.البخاري ومسلم

287. A man (sometimes) says a word that brings him down into the Fire a distance as the east to the west. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

288- مَنْ كَانَ آخِرُ كَلَامِهِ لَا إِلهَ إِلاَّ الله دَخَلَ الجَنَّةَ.أبو داود

288. He whose final words are “La ilaha illallah- There is no god but Allah,” will enter Paradise. (Abu Daud)

289- قُلْتُ مَا النَّجاةُ يا رسول الله؟ قَالَ أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ لِسَانَكَ وَلْيَسَعْكَ بَيْتُكَ وَابْكِ عَلى خَطِيَئِتك.َالترمذي

289. The Prophet was asked, “What is the Salvation?” He said, “To save your tongue (by saying only good), to be with your family (by looking after them well), and to cry for your guilt by repenting.” (At-Tirmithi)

290- إِنَّ مِنَ البَيانِ لسحراً.البخاري

290. Some eloquent speech is like magic. (Al-Bukhari)

291- كان كَلَامُهُ فَصْلاً يفْهَمُهُ كُلُّ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ.أبو داود

291. The Prophet’s speech was quite clear and understood by all who listened. (Abu Daud)
