الفصل التاسع و العشرون: الطَّعَاْمُ وَ الشَّرَاْبُ

Chapter 29: Food and Drink

466- يَا غُلامُ سَمِّ اللهَ وَكُلْ بِيَمِيِنكَ وَكُلْ مِمّا يَلِيْكَ. البخاري

466. Boy: say the name of Allah when you eat; eat with your right hand, and eat from what is closest to you. (Al-Bukhari)

467- إنَّ مِنَ السَّرفِ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ كُلَّمَا اشْتَهَيْتَ. ابن ماجه

467. Verily, it is extravagant to eat whenever you desire. (Ibn Maajah)

468- إِنَّ الشَيْطانَ يَسْتَحِلُّ الطَّعامَ أَنْ لاَ يُذْكَرَ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيهِ. أبو داود

468. Verily, the satan may eat lawfully from the food that the name of Allah has not been mentioned on. (Abu Daud)

469- إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدَكُمْ فَنَسِيَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَ اسْمَ اللهِ عَلى طَعَامِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ الله أَوَّلِهِ وآخِرِه .أبو داود

469. If someone forgets to say the name of Allah before he eats, he should say, “In the name of Allah first and last.” (Abu Dawud)

470- مَا عابَ رَسُولُ اللهِ طَعاماً قَطُّ إِنْ اشْتَهاهُ أَكَلَهُ وإِنْ كَرِهَهُ تَرَكَهُ. البخاري ومسلم

470. The Prophet never criticized food; if he liked it, he ate, and if not, he left it. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

471- يا سَعْدُ أَطِبْ مَطْعَمَكَ تَكُنْ مُسْتَجَابَ الدَّعْوَةِ.الطبراني

471. Oh Sa’d, (if you) eat Halal (from a legal living), your supplication will be accepted. (At-Tabraani)

472- نَهى رَسُولُ اللهِ عَنِ النَّفْخِ في الطَّعامِ والشَّرابِ. أبو داود

472. The Prophet forbids blowing (of the breath) into food or drink. (Abu Daud)

473- شَرُّ الطَّعامِ طَعامُ الوَلِيَمة يُدْعى إِلَيْها الأَغْنِياءُ ويُدْفَعُ َعْنها الفُقَراءُ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ الدَّعْوَةَ فَقَدْ عَصَى الله وَرَسُولَهُ. البخاري

473. The worst food is the banquet food when only the rich is invited and the poor is pushed away; and he who does not fulfill an invitation, is disobeying Allah and His Messenger. (Al-Bukhari)

474- الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلاثةُ أَيَّامٍ وَجَائِزَتُه يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يُقِيَم عِنْدَ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يُؤْثمِه قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وكَيْفَ يُؤْثِمَهُ قالَ يُقِيمُ عِنْدَهُ ولاَ شَيءْ له يُقَرِيْهِ بِهِ. أحمد

474. Hosting is three days, and it could be for a day and a night, and a Muslim should not stay at his brother’s home while he burdens him. They said, “Oh Messenger of Allah, how does he burden him?” He said, “He stays at his home when he cannot afford to host him.” (Ahmad)

475- أَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الأَبْرارُ وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الملائِكَةُ الأَخْيارُ وَأَفطْرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ. أبو داود

475. May the righteous ones eat your food, may the noble Angels bless you, and may the fasting ones have their Iftar with you. (Abu Daud)

476- الكَافِرُ يَأْكُلُ في سَبْعَةِ أَمْعاءٍ وَالمْؤُمِنُ يَأْكُلُ في مَعْيٍ واحِدٍ. مسلم

476. The disbeliever eats with seven intestines while the Muslim eats with one intestine. (Muslim)
