534. None of you should stop seeking to have children, for when a man dies with no child his name is cut off. (At-Tabaraani)
535- مَا وُلِدَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ غُلَامٌ إِلَّا أَصْبَحَ فِيِهْم عِزٌّ لَمْ يَكُنْ. الطبراني535. Whenever a child is born in a house, soon there will be power and might that was not there before. (At-Tabaraani)
536- أَدِّبُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ عَلَى ثَلَاثِ خُصَالٍ: حُبِّ نَبِيِّكُمْ وَحُبِّ آَل بَيْتِهِ وَتِلَاوَةِ القُرْآنِ. الطبراني536. Teach your children to be polite based on these three characteristics: love of your Prophet, love of his household, and the recitation of the Qur’an. (At-Tabaraani)
537- عَلِّمُوا الصَّبِيَّ الصَّلاةَ ابنَ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا ابنَ عَشْرٍ. الترمذي537. Teach your child to pray Salah at age seven and if he does not by age ten, beat him. (At-Tirmithi)
538- مَنْ عَاَل جَارِيَتَيْنِ حَتَّى تَبْلُغَا جَاءَ يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ أَنَا وَهُوَ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَضَمَّ أَصَابِعَهُ. مسلم538. He who takes care of two females until they come of age, He will be with me on the day of Qiamah like these two (and he brought his two fingers close to each other). (Muslim)
539- أَنَا وَامْرَأَةُ سُفْعَاءُ الخَدَّيْنِ آَمَتْ(حنَّت) مِنْ زَوْجِهَا فَصَبَرَتْ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا كَهَاتَيْنِ فِي الجَنَّةِ. الترمذي539. A sunburned widow woman who looks after her children patiently and I are like these two in Jannah (and he brought his two fingers close to each other). (At-Tirmithi)
540- خَيْرُ بَيْتٍ فِي المُسْلِميِنَ بَيْتٌ فِيهِ يَتِيمٌ يُحْسَنُ إِلَيْهِ وَشَرُّ بَيْتٍ فِي المُسْلِميِنَ بَيْتٌ فِيْهِ يَتِيمٌ يُسَاءُ إِليَهِ أَنَا وَكَافِلُ اليَتِيمِ فِي الجَنَّةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ يُشِيْرُ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ. ابن ماجه540. The best of Muslims’ houses is a house wherein there is an orphan who is hosted well; and the worst of Muslims’ houses is a house wherein an orphan treated badly. The one who takes care of an orphan, he is with me in Jannah like these two (and he brought his two fingers close to each other). (Ibn Maajah)
541- مَا أَنْعَمَ اللهُ عَلَى عَبْدٍ نِعْمةً مِنْ أَهْلٍ أَوْ وَلَدٍ فَيَقُولُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ لا يَرى فِيهِ آَفَةٌ دُوْنَ المَوْتِ. أبو يعلى541. If Allah bestows a grace (family or children) on one of His servants and he says, ‘Mashallah la quwwata illa billah - How great is Allah, there is no power except through Him,’ he will never experience any major calamities but death. (Abu Ya’la)
542- افْتَحُوا عَلَى صِبْيانِكُمْ أَوَّلَ كَلِمَةٍ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَلِقْنُوُهُمْ عِنْدَ المَوْتِ لَاْ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ. الحاكم542. Instill firstly upon the mind of your children, ‘There is no god but Allah,’ and teach them to say at their death, ‘There is no god but Allah.’ (Al-Haakim)
543- أَكْرِمُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ وَأَحْسِنُوا أَدَبَهُمْ. ابن ماجه543. Be generous to your children by teaching them good manners. (Ibn Maajah)
544- يَا فَاطِمَةُ اِحْلِقِي رَأْسَهُ وَتَصَدَّقِي بِزِنَةِ شَعْرِهِ فِضَّهً قَالَ فَوَزَنْتهُ فَكَانَ وَزْنُهُ دِرْهَمَاً أَوْ بَعْضَ دِرْهَمٍ. ابن ماجه544. Oh Fatimah (the Prophet’s daughter), shave his head (Al-Hasan), and give charity of silver as the weight of his hair. So, she weighed his hair and it was about one dirham. (Ibn Maajah)
545- قَالَ أَبْو مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيّ: وُلِدَ لِي غُلامٌ فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ فَسَمَّاهُ إِبْراهِيم وَحَنَّكَهُ بِتَمْرَةً وَدَعَا لَهُ بِالبْرَكَةِ وَدَفَعَهُ إِليَّ. البخاري545. Abu Musa Al-Asha’ri said, “A boy was born to me, and I went to the Prophet; He named him Ibrahim, fed him a date, prayed for him to be blessed, and then handed him back to me.” (Al-Bukhari)
546- مَنْ قَالَ لِصَبِيٍّ تَعَالَ هَاكَ أُعْطِكَ وَلَمْ يُعْطِهِ كُتِبَتْ كِذْبَةٌ. أحمد546. He who calls a child, ‘Come and take this,’ and he does not give him any thing, it is considered a lie. (Ahmad)
547- جَنِّبُوا مَساجِدَكُمْ صِبْيَانَكُمْ. ابن ماجه547. Keep the toddlers away from the mosques. (Ibn Maajah)
548- الخِتَانُ سُنَّةٌ لِلرِّجالِ مَكْرُمَةٌ للِنَّساءِ. الطبراني548. The circumcision is Sunnah (a prophetic deed) for men and a noble quality for women. (At-Tabaraani)
549- لَا تَرْفَعِ العَصَا عَلَى أَهْلِكَ وَأَخِفْهُم فِي اللهِ. الطبراني549. Do not raise the stick on your family, and make them fear Allah. (At-Tabaraani)
550- العَقِيقَةُ تُذْبَحُ لِسَبْعٍ أَوْ لِأَرْبَعَ عَشَرَةَ أَوْ لِإِحْدى وَعِشْرِينَ. الطبراني550. The ‘Aqiqah (sheep slaughtered for new born baby) is slaughtered on the seventh day, or the fourteenth day, or the twenty first day (after the birth). (At-Tabaraani)
551- كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِيَنةٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ تُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ وَيُسَمَّى فيهِ وَيُحْلَقُ رَأْسُهُ، العَقِيَقةُ حَقٌّ، عَنِ الغُلامِ شَاتَانِ مُتَكافِئَتَانِ، وَعَنِ الجارِيَةِ شَاةٌ. أحمد551. Every child is held in pledge for his ‘Aqiqah. It is slaughtered for him on the seventh day after birth, and he should be named, and his hair shaved on that day. ‘Aqiqah is true; it is two sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl. (Ahmad)
552- كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الفِطْرَةِ إِنَّما أَبَوَاهُ يُهُوَّدانِهِ أَوْ يُمجِسّانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرانِه. البخاري552. Every child is born in a state of natural Islam; indeed, it is the parents who make him a Jew, Zoastrian (Fire Worshiper), or Christian. (Al-Bukhari)
553- يَا غُلامُ إِنِّي أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ: اِحْفَظِ اللهَ يَحْفَظْكَ اِحْفَظِ اللهَ تَجِدْهُ تِجَاهَكَ إِذَا سَأَلْتَ فَاْسَألِ اللهَ وَإِذَا اسْتَعَنْتَ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللهِ وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّ الأُمَّةَ لَوْ اجْتَمَعَتْ عَلَى أَنْ يَنْفَعُوكَ بِشَيْءٍ لاَ يَنْفَعُوكَ إِلَّا بِشَيْءٍ قَدْ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ لَكَ وَإِنْ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى أَنْ يَضُرُّوكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَا يَضُرُّوكَ إِلَّا بِشَيْءٍ قَدْ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْكَ رُفِعَتِ الأَقْلَامُ وَجَفَّتِ الصُّحُفُ. الترمذي و غيره553. Oh Son: I would like to give you some advice; be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him leading you. When you ask, ask Allah; if you seek help, seek help with Allah. Know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you; and that if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you.
