122. Fasting is a protection and it is an invincible fort (that saves) from the Fire. (Ahmad)
123- أَفْضَلُ الصِّيامِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللهِ المُحَرَّمُ. مسلم123. The best fasting after Ramadan (in reward) is the fasting of Muharram. (Muslim)
124- مَاْ مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَصُومُ يَوْمَاً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَعَالَى إِلَّا بَاعَدَ اللهُ بِذَلِكَ اليَوْمِ وَجْهَهُ عَنِ النَّارِ سَبْعِيْنَ خَرِيْفَاً. متفق عليه124. Whosoever fasts a day for the sake of Allah, Allah will keep his face away from the Fire seventy autumn journeys (i.e., years). (Agreed on)
125- سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ المَاضِيَةَ والباقِيَةَ.مسلم125. The Prophet was asked about fasting the day of Arafat, so he said, “It atones for a year before and the remainder of the year.” (Muslim)
126- صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ كُلِّهِ. متفق عليه126. Fasting three days of each month equals fasting the whole lifetime. (Agreed on)
127- رُبَّ صَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ الجُوعُ والعَطَشُ وَرُبَّ قَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ السَّهَرُ. ابن خزيمة127. One of those who fasts, may only get thirst and hunger from his fasting; and one of those who prays at night, may only get vigilance and staying awake. (Ibn Khuzaiymah)
128- مَنْ أَفْطَرَ يوماً مِنْ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ عُذْرٍ وَلَاْ مَرَضٍ لَمْ يَقْضِهِ صَوْمُ الدَّهْرِ وَإِنْ صَاْمَهُ. البخاري128. Whosoever does not fast a day in the month of Ramadan with no excuse or disease, if he fasts his whole life it will not replace the day he missed. (Al-Bukhari)
129- مَنْ فَطَّرَ صَائِمَاً كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَجْرِ الصَّائِمِ شَيْءٌ. الأربعة129. Whosoever feeds a faster (when he breaks his fast) will have the same reward as the faster. This will not cause the reward of the faster to be decreased. (The four)
130- إِنَّا مَعاشِرَ الأَنْبِياءِ أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُعَجِّلَ فِطْرَنَا وَنُؤَخِّرَ سُحُورَنا وَأَنْ نَضَعَ أَيْمانَنَا عَلَى شَمائِلِنا فِي الصَّلاةِ. الطِبراني130. We, the Prophets, are ordered to hasten the Iftar (breaking the fast), and to delay the Suhur, and to put our right hand on our left hand during the Salat. (At-Tabaraani)
131- تُعْرَضُ الأَعْمالُ يَوْمَ الاثْنَيْنِ وَالخَمِيسِ فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ يُعْرَضَ عَمَلِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ. الترمذي131. Deeds are shown (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays and I would like my deeds to be shown while I am fasting. (At-Tirmithi)
132- إِنَّ فِي الجَنَّةِ بَابَاً يُقَالُ لَهُ الرَّيانُ يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ الصَّائِمُونَ يَوْمَ القِيامَةِ لَاْ يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرَ هُمْ فَإِذَا دَخَلُوا أغُلِقَ فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ. البخاري ومسلم132. In Paradise, there is a door called Ar-Raiyyan; only fasters will enter through it on the Day of Judgment, and when they enter, the door will be closed, so none can enter this door afterwards. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
133- اغْزوُا تَضْمَنُوا وَصُومُوا تَصِحُّوا وَسَافِروُا تَسْتَغْنُوا. الطبراني133. Do battle (Jihad) to guarantee (either victory or martyrdom), fast to have good health, and travel then you will not be in need of others. (At-Tabaraani)
134- قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مُرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ قَالَ: عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا عَدْلَ لَهُ. النسائي134. I said, “Oh Messenger of Allah! Order me to do a deed.” He said, “Adhere to fasting, for no other deed equals it.” (Al-Nasaai)
135- الصِّيَامُ وَالقُرْآَنُ يَشْفَعَانِ لِلْعَبْدِ يَوْمَ القِيامَةِ يَقُولُ الصِّيامُ أَيْ رَبِّ مَنَعْتُهُ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّهْوَةَ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ وَيَقُولُ القُرآنُ مَنَعْتُهُ النَّومَ بِاللَّيْلِ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيْهِ قَالَ فَيَشْفَعَانِ. أحمد135. Fasting and Qur’an will intercede for the worshipper on the day of judgement, the fasting says, ‘Oh Allah! I prevented him from food and desires, so let me intercede for him’, and the Qur’an says, ‘I prevented him from sleeping at night, so let me intercede for him,’ so they intercede. (Ahmad)
136- مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَاناً واحْتِسَاباً غُفِرَ لَهُ مَاْ تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ. البخاري136. Whosoever fasts Ramadan faithfully and perfectly, all sins he did are forgiven. (Al-Bukhari)
137- أَتَاكُمْ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرٌ مُبارَكٌ فَرَضَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ صِيَامَهُ تُفْتَحُ أَبْوابُ السَّماءِ وَتُغْلَقُ فِيه أَبْوَابُ الجَحِيمِ وَتُغَلُّ فِيهِ مَرَدَةُ الشَّياطِينِ، للهِ فِيهِ لَيْلَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ مَنْ حُرِمَ خَيْرَهَا فَقَدْ حُرِمَ. النسائي137. Ramadan has come to you, a blessed month that Allah has ordered you to fast; in it the doors of heaven are opened, the doors of hell are closed, and the most rebelious devils are chained. Allah has put in it a night better than one thousand months, so whosoever is deprived of its blessing is deprived (of everything). (Al-Nasaai)
138- اسْتَعِيُنوا بِطَعَاْمِ اللَّيْلِ عَلَى صِيَاْمِ النَّهارِ وَبِقْيلُولَةِ النَّهارِ عَلَى قِيَاْمِ اللَّيْلِ. ابن ماجه138. Get help of the food of the night, to fast the day. Nap during the day to stay awake during the night. (Ibn Maajah)
139-السُّحُورُ كُلُّهُ بَرَكَةٌ فَلَا تَدَعُوهُ وَلَو أَنْ يَجْرَعَ أَحَدُكُمْ جُرْعَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى المُتَسَحِرِّيْنَ. أحمد139. Everything involved with Suhur is a blessing, so do not leave it, even if it is a gulp of water, Allah and His angels pray for those who have Suhur. (Ahmad)
140- قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّ أَ حَبَّ عِبَادِيْ إِلَيَّ أَعَجْلَهُمُ فِطْرَاً. الترمذي140. Allah says: Verily, the most beloved people to Me are those who hurry in having their Iftar. (At-Tirmithi)
141- سُئِلَ النَبِيُّ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ صَدَقَةٌ فِي رَمَضَاْنَ. الترمذي141. The Prophet was asked, “Which charity is the best?” He said, “A charity in Ramadan.” (At-Tirmithi)
142- مَنْ أَحْيَا لَيْلَةَ الفِطْرِ وَلَيْلَةَ الأَضْحَى لَمْ يَمُتْ قَلْبَهُ يَوْمَ تَمُوتُ القُلُوبُ. الطبراني142. Whosoever stays awake (worshipping Allah) during the night of Al-Fitr, and the night of Al-Adha, his heart will not die on the day when all hearts die. (At-Tabaraani)
143- لَيْسَ مَنْ البِرِّ الصِّيَامُ فِي السَّفَرِ. النسائي143. It is not a virtue to fast during the travel. (Al-Nasaai)
144- مَنْ اعْتَكَفَ عَشْراً فِي رَمَضَانَ كَانَ كَحَجَّتَيِنْ وَعُمْرَتَيِنْ. البيهقي144. Whosoever stays in the Masjid only worshipping Allah for ten days in Ramadan, it is for him (in reward) as two Hajj and two Umrah. (Al-Bayhaqi)
145- فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَدَقَةَ الِفِطْر طُهْرَةً لِلْصَّائِمِ مِنَ اللَّغْوِ وَالرَّفَثِ وَطُعْمَةً لِلْمَسَاكِيْنَ فَمَنْ أَدَّاهَا قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ فَهِيَ زَكَاةٌ مَقْبُولَةٌ وَمَنْ أَدَّاهَا بَعْدَ الصَّلاةِ َ فَهيَ صَدَقَةٌ مِنَ الصَّدَقَاتِ. أبو داود145. The Prophet prescribed (paying) the charity of Al-Fitr to purify the fasting person from sins, and as a food for the poor; so it is an accepted Zakah for he who pays it before Salah (Eid Al-Fitr), and a charity like any other charity for he who pays it after the Salah. (Abu Daud)
146- سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ عَنْ هَذِهِ الآَيةِ: 'قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّى' قَالَ نَزَلَتْ فِي زَكَاةِ الفِطْرِ. ابن خزيمة146. The Prophet was asked about this ayah, “successful is he who purifies himself,” so he said, “It descended in reference to Zakat Al-Fitr.” (Ibn Khuzaiymah)
147- مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتّاً مِنْ شَوَّالَ كَانَ كَصِيَامِ الدَّهْرِ. مسلم147. Whosoever fasts Ramadan and follows it by (fasting) six days in Shawwal, he is rewarded as fasting the whole lifetime. (Muslim)
148- لَاْ تَزَاْلُ أُمَتِّي عَلَى سُنَّتِي مَا لَمْ تَنْتَظِرْ بِفِطْرِهَا النُّجُومَ. ابن حبان148. My people are still following my Sunnah unless they wait to watch the stars to break their fast. (Ibn Habban)
149- مَنْ وَجَدَ تَمْرَاً فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ لِمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى المَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ طُهُورٌ. الطبراني149. Whosoever finds dates can break his fast with those, and who does not find dates may break his fast with water, for water is pure. (At-Tabaraani)
150- فِي لَيْلَةِ النِّصْفِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ يَغْفُرِ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِأَهْلِ الأَرْضِ إِلَّا لِمُشِرِكٍ أَوْ مُشَاحِنٍ. البيهقي150. In the night in the middle of Sha’ban, Allah forgives everyone except a polytheist or a man who is in dispute with his brother. (Al-Bayhaqi)
151- للهِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ فِطْرٍ عُتَقَاءُ. أحمد151. Allah has people He frees (from the hell fire) at each breaking of the fast. (Ahmad)
